UNION redux

With their layered country-tinged harmonies and rock oriented rhythms, the music of Union consistently rung with a vitality uniquely their own. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s they were a force in the regional Country music scene. A three time New York State winner of the True Value Country Showdown, including in 1987 being one of six finalists out of 100,000 entries nationwide, garnered them segments on TNN’s Crook and Chase, Wrap Around Nashville, and appearance on Ralph Emery’s Nashville Now. Several appearances on the world famous WWVA Jamboree USA Radio Show at the historic Capital Music Hall in Wheeling WV, and Jamboree in The Hills music festival followed. The list of acts they performed with reads like a Who’s Who of Country Music. They last performed together at a reunion appearance in 2005, soon followed by the sad passing of their band mate and musical brother, Tony Mann. Just a bit over 6 yrs. later, heartbreak once again struck the Union family with the untimely passing of sound engineer and unofficial sixth member John Nugent. The band, who remain lifelong friends, Joe Mattioli, Jerry Ziarko, Ed Thomas, Rick Johnson and Rob Erb are excited to be sharing some old memories, and thrilled to be making some new ones with the launch of Union redux......
