Cindy Cashdollar & Johnny Nicholas
Cindy Cashdollar is a Dobro steel guitarist and Dobro player. She is a 5-time Grammy award winner and a member of the Texas Music Hall of Fame, and recently delighted Rochester audiences with her performance at the Louis S Wolk JCC of Greater Rochester, with guitar great, Sonny Landreth- Official
Austin-based Dobro and steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar's career has taken some surprising twists and turns that have led her to work with many of the leading artists in contemporary music including Rod Stewart, Van Morrison, Ryan Adams, Bob Dylan, Asleep at the Wheel, Garrision Keillor, Marcia Ball, Jorma Kaukonen, Leon Redbone, BeauSoliel, Daniel Lanois, and Redd Volkaert.
Cindy's unerring ability to perfectly compliment a song or step out with a tasteful, imaginative, and exciting solo - and to do it in so many musical genres - has made her one of the most in-demand musicians on the American roots music scene. Her debut CD, Slide Show, features guest artists comprising a Who's Who of the contemporary roots scene.
"Equally at home picking a vintage Dobro, an old National resonator guitar, or laying down fat horn voicings on a tripleneck 8-string steel, Cashdollar is a master of bluegrass, gutbucket blues, honky tonk, swampy R&B, and Western Swing."
- Frets Magazine
And, in answer to her most frequently asked question, yes, Cashdollar is a real name.

Often referred to as a ‘bluesman,’ to classify Johnny Nicholas as strictly a blues artist is quite a misnomer. Nicholas’ signature style of music might be better defined as deep roots music. His musical roots grow deep and wide – spanning the many musical traditions found across the country. Drawing from the wealth of musical influences found in areas such as Chicago, Louisiana and Texas – Nicholas’ original music stirs together elements of folk, blues, western-swing, jazz, Cajun and country. While his dexterity on the guitar, husky growl of a baritone, and talent on the 88’s make him well at home in the world of blues and jazz, Nicholas’ skill as a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and performer of authentic Americana music is not to be understated.
Over his career, Nicholas has worked with such a diverse mix of artists and bands as Asleep at the Wheel, Boogie Woogie Red, Johnny Shines, Duke Robillard, Robert Lockwood Jr., Nathan Abshire, Dewey Balfa, Link Davis Jr., Walter Horton, Hubert Sumlin, Los Texmaniacs, Marcia Ball, David Abeyta and many more.
Johnny last played Abilene Bar and Lounge in March of 2018...in a performance that's still be talked about.
