Rochester, NY native Nick Young has built a robust career as a critically acclaimed independent songwriter, recording artist and performer over the past 15 years. While his albums are often described as indie folk/alt country with a dash of power pop, his years of touring the country as a solo acoustic artist helped mold him into a dynamic and charismatic live performer who always puts the song first, whether playing a world class theatre or a Lower East Side dive bar. Over the course of his career, Nick has shared the stage and studio with such luminaries as Lenny Kaye, Chris Trapper, Cory Branan, Richard Buckner, Al Perkins (Gram Parsons) and Ken Coomer (Wilco).
Nick’s backing band The Less Fortunate features Chad Ayers (Blue Jimmy, Ayers Bros) on guitar, Mike Nelson (Blue Jimmy, Ayers Bros) on bass and Steve Nelson (Blue Jimmy, Boyd Parker Ambush) on drums. Expect a mix of Nick’s originals with songs by several of his influences including Wilco, Old 97s, John Prine, Tom Petty & Johnny Cash.
