Don’t miss the super funky sounds of “The Almightys!”

The Almightys with special guests, opening act Mintelligence, then saxophonist Ethan Lyons, joining the Almightys for a hot set of Sol Vibration tunes.

The Almightys are a dynamic, funky, soulful, playful and rocking jam band from Rochester NY. Initially founded in 2005, the band had a three year run that included shows backing Andre ‘Foxxe’ Willams from P-Funk, a legendary Groundstomp set and instigating the Roc City Pro Jam. Now reunited they are combining their original progressive roots music with songs from such artists as James Brown, Frank Zappa, Dr. Lonnie Smith, The Nevilles and The Beatles. Keyboardist and singer Lou Spezio also performs with The Buddhahood while keyboardist and sax player Paul Jr. Spezio performs with the Rhythm Dogs and The Coupe Devilles. The brothers came up in the legendary Wells-Curtis Band, dominating the live scene, playing to packed houses from Montreal to Detroit and up and down the coast in the 70’s with their groove heavy soul-funk sound.
Kevin Frisch, bass and vocals, and Herb Heins, guitar and vocals, started playing and songwriting during their halcyon high school days. Moving to Rochester in 1985, they started performing in the original alt rock band Herb Heins and The Turbines. Working with Bill Holmes and Feels So Good productions they gigged all over the area, from Red Creek, Idols, Party In The Park, Backstreets, Penny Arcade and Scorgies to the Orange Monkey, SUNY Brockport and St. Boneventure. The album ‘Napalm Sunday’ was released in 1991. Herb moved on to found the metal band Chaos Matrix, then began working with Bob Bunce in Beyond Riddim, Dada Festivals and with Andre’ Foxxe’s Billy Makenzie Band. Herb has more recently been sitting in with The English Project, Into The Now and releasing a vinyl mix of the Sol Vibration album ‘One Time’. Drummer Tommy Mintel’s deep musical resume includes performing and recording and releasing albums with Vanishing Sun, Zahyia Rolle and his amazing band of brothers, Mintelligence.

Special guest saxophonist Ethan Lyons has been making great music happen all over WNY. From his days performing with The Hogs, The Colorblind James Experience and the legendary Buzzo to more recently appearing with Giant Panda, Papa Herb and The Sol Vibration and The Medicinals, Ethan puts his heart and soul in every note he plays, serving the groove and rocking the house.
