Dave Wright is a local guitarist and composer who has written many eclectic improvisational compositions. Dave worked in New York City as  house guitarist at Radio City Music Hall and has a long list of musical accomplishments playing at sites across North America and Europe, and with great local bands like Prime Time Funk and the Bill Tiberio Group. Dave is the son of Rayburn Wright — founder and director of Eastman Jazz & Contemporary Media program — and the talented artist Doris B Wright. Dave grew up in a home where writing a song or creating art was a normal and consistent activity, and this has had a deep effect on Dave's outlook on life, in which musical and creative expression is just … always there.
Combine this background with a passion for travel and photography, and you get Dave's current project — Dave Wright and The Band of Opportunity: Music written around the world.
Dave has traveled to six continents with his guitar, visiting places of amazing beauty and writing music at those locations which picks up impressions of the world's great places. Dave Wright and The Band of Opportunity has recorded a number of these songs on their new album "There and Gone", with songs written in the high Andes of Peru, tropical northeast Australia, southern Spain, the Adirondacks, Rwanda, and the Caribbean. During live performances you may hear songs written in Panama, Newfoundland, Bonaire, French Polynesia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iceland and more. Dave has a trip planned to Pakistan in September, trekking to the base of K2 — he will be bringing his Martin Backpacker guitar and hopes to write music there to catch the ambiance of the high Himalayas.
Dave Wright and The Band of Opportunity includes Scott Bradley on keyboards, Doug Fien on bass and Ryan Muchard on drums. Dave and Scott have been playing together off and on since high school. Scott recorded on two of Dave's previous albums: Island Changes and 9 Dreams. Ryan, Doug and Dave spent all of Covid recording an astonishing 25 tunes, some of which are included in their new album There and Gone.
