Liam Grant:

A few days after he was born, Liam Grant was left on the steps of an orphanage just outside the town of Masardis in Aroostook County, Maine.

Before the nuns were aware, he was abducted by a pack of wolves, who raised him as one of their own until he was about five years old.

Around that time he was found by a local hermit (that had recently undergone a philosophical upheaval during hallucinations after eating moldy black spruce gum off an ancient tree) who took in the feral child as his own.

Unlearned to the ways of readin' & writin', the hermit taught young Liam to communicate the only way he knew how: on an old 12-string acoustic guitar two strings short of a full set.

About the time Liam reached drinking age, he hopped a B&M train headed south and ended up in Gate City, NH where he currently lives in a two-ply refrigerator box with his cat Viv and busks guitar on his street corner to pay for whiskey & cat food.

Nod:

Since they first began playing together in a Rochester, NY, basement in the spring in 1990, Nod has been churning out off-beat funk/punk rock with an undercurrent of Velvets noise and chaos. Members Joe Sorriero (guitar, vocals), Tim Poland (bass), and Brian Shafer (drums), have shown an alternate-tuning free/out groove craziness on a series of 8 self-produced albums (and a smattering of other releases in various forms) spanning nearly three decades, including a bunch of releases on Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley’s Smells Like Records. The Nod guys also did some time in legendary noise/weird jazz combos Coffee and Arthur Doyle Electro-Acoustic Ensemble. Nod’s latest release on Carbon, So Much Tonight, echoes early Talking Heads, and (though Nod predates them) Pavement. Call it omnipunk. While references and comparisons to other acts abound, their style never sits still long enough to be pinned down.
