Live music by two great bands…

Adrianna Noone Band

Singer-songwriter Adrianna Noone, from upstate NY, started young as an Irish dancer at age 5. Although dancing was her entrance into performing, it soon became apparent that Adrianna had a gift for singing and quickly made musical theater her main focus through her early school years. She later studied vocal performance at the prestigious Belmont University in Nashville, TN. In 2015, she placed top10 in the world with her cover of the Florence + The Machine song “No Light No Light” for the “Unsigned Only” competition. In 2017, she took the best soloist award at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. Some of her influences include Feist, Florence Welch, Cat Power, and Brandi Carlile. With her classy old school tone, edgy modern flare and incredible vocal range, Adrianna will hold your ears hostage with each song. Currently, you can catch Adrianna fronting her band, playing solo gigs, playing with the highly-acclaimed band, Public Water Supply, as well as being a part of the Public Water Supply Trio. In the band’s December 2019 debut gig, with the 22 year old leaving the packed house awed, the band wowed with its danceable indie soul featuring Adrianna’s breathtaking voice and songwriting skills.

Dead Metaphor Soiree

Dead Metaphor Soiree is a stripped-down incarnation of a sporadic but long-running literary music project with Curt and Nani Nehring Bliss at its core, joined over the years by an orbiting collage of collaborators from across the musically rich Finger Lakes hills and valleys. Born of a love of poetry and a desire to embody it, Dead Metaphor Cabaret began as the house band for a celebrated monthly performance showcase at Finger Lakes Community College where both Curt and Nani have invested decades as educators, instigators, and hosts.

Drawing from blues, cabaret, and art song, Curt and Nani use original musical interpretation to explore the fruitful territory that straddles the borders of music and poetry. Shows are curated within the tradition of the ‘adaptation musicale’ common in 19th-century French salons, featuring originals, choice covers, and selections of poetry adapted and arranged for voice, guitar, and whistle.

A former Democrat & Chronicle “Critics’ Pick” for the Rochester Fringe Festival, Curt and Nani have earned at least a few fans over the years: “I love Dead Metaphor Cabaret; a duo that wrestles in the peace of stark beauty and a poetic emphasis on lyrics or a lyrical interpretation of poetry…. plaintive guitar, gorgeous, gorgeous voice…. epic and melancholy and utterly charming” -- Frank DeBlase, CITY Newspaper.
