The Proscrastinators

The Procrastinators are a conglomeration of members from several local, unknown, unpopular bands from the 1970s. No, really… Just seeing if you’re paying attention. Brian Mulligan and Wiley Jobe began playing together in 2017, playing such hotspots as the Seabury Woods nursing home, The Grand Chandelier Ballroom at Monroe Community Hospital , a lively outdoor gig at the Mendon Public Library and other fabulous musical venues around town.

Not satisfied with great success with the geriatric set, they eventually added guitarist extraordinaire, Bill Blanchard, Professor of Sociology Wes Perkins, and finally after a lengthy search, Drummer Bruce Hyland was added to round our the band.

As master procrastinators, and wanting to rush headlong into things, they fine-tuned their sets in living rooms and ice cream stands until their sound was as good as could be expected from some aging but still youthful rock ‘n rollersl.

Their wide ranging set list will appeal to anyone who loves music of the popular, to forgotten but beloved recording artists and songwriters we all grew up with.

From John Prine, John Hiatt, Roger McGuinn and Van Morrison, to Leon Russell, the Turtles, Bob Seger and Mose Allison. If you like music, you’ll appreciate the Procrastinators’ wide variety of material.

Sprinkled in between, you’ll hear some thoughtful original tunes from songwriter/storyteller Brian Mulligan, playing guitar, pedal steel, mandolin and banjo.

Joining the musical project are two seasoned musicians who also played in various versions of Brian‘s long established band, The Lonesome Angels. Guitarist and occasional songwriter Bill Blanchard, Perfesser Wes Perkins on bass, and Bruce Hyland of late from Jack Jones’ notorious Stid Hill Stompers keeps the beat for the feet.

Local wag, kaleidoscope artist and erstwhile pianna player Wiley Jobe round out the quintet of musical pals who despite their aging appearance, still understand that music keeps us young even though we’ve long past the age of leaping around the stage in spandex. Please join the Procrastinators for Happy Hour from 5:30 until 8:15 when they shovel themselves off the stage to make way for some American country, rock'n'roll and western swing music with international artists, Lovesick. The Procrastinators will be lovesick too if you don’t catch their debut at Abilene!
