Dean Keller’s Soul Jazz Joint

DKSJJ is a feel good, grooving jazz band that will lift your spirits and put a smile on your face!

Can you swing AC/DC?  “Highway to Hell” yes!  Take a popular song known to modern audiences and arrange it to sound like a throwback to the classic soul jazz sound of the 60’s; that’s the inspiration for Dean Keller’s Soul Jazz Joint.

They engage their audiences in a unique listening experience by playing songs they probably know the words to, and asking them to figure out the titles; they call it Name That Tune - Soul Jazz Style.  It’s great fun watching audience members going, ”Oh, I know this one…what is it called?  Oh yeah, it’s…!”  Recent additions to the playlist include BeBop Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift in the style of Cannonball’s “Work Song”, The Doors played a la Shirley Bassey (you know, the voice that sang the James Bond theme Goldfinger?), a New Orleans street beat reworking of The Super Mario Brothers Theme, and a tip of the hat to local legend Steve Gadd with an arrangement of Rickie Lee Jones’s “Chuck E’s In Love”.

You’re in for a truly swingin’ time!
