A Full Night of Irish Music! feat. John Dady and Friends

Doors 7:00pm • Music 7:30pm

A FULL NIGHT OF IRISH MUSIC!

Brian Clancy & Joe Appleby

Brian Clancy is among the last of the great postwar generation of ex-pat musicians who made Rochester the great Irish city it was during the 60s, 70s, and 80s and continues to be today. In his capacity as the leader of his renowned group the Emigrants and his decades-long teaching of his native Irish language, the Galway native continues to inspire younger generations with his authenticity and devotion to Irish culture.

Brian is ably accompanied by Tragedy Brothers frontman Joe Appleby on guitar and vocals. This duo has made a name for themselves in the last decade with their unique mix of acoustic and electric instrumentation and their dynamic performance style.

John Dady
w/ An Glór Óg

John Dady hardly needs an introduction: for four decades he and his beloved brother Joe carried the Irish and American traditions forward, entertaining audiences across the world. Counting such legends as Tommy Makem and Pete Seeger as influences and then collaborators and friends, the Dadys made their indelible mark on Rochester's musical culture until Joe's untimely passing in May of this year. John's versatility was never more on display than at the concert in Joe's memory in November and his already formidable solo work has, it seems, only been fortified by his brother's memory.

Occasionally accompanied on the many gigs he plays in the region, John is tonight backed up by fellow Rochesterians John Ryan, Sean Rosenberry, and Ben Goehring. Together known as An Glór Óg, the trio makes up the backbone of the resurgent jam session scene for which Rochester is renowned across America's Irish trad community. The seisiun and its improvisational, playful approach to Irish music shines through in their on-stage performance, combining the traditions of the past and the innovations of the moment in a unique sound.
