Got Herb?

Got Herb? Is an acoustic band from Rochester NY featuring the original songs of Herb Heins. With their take on contemporary Americana, the songs range from swampy rockers to sweet ballads, with four part harmonies and plenty of tasty jams. Herb leads the band on guitar, slide, mando and vocals with Lou Spezio on piano and vocals, Jeff Bazarian on guitar and vocals, Kevin Frisch on bass and vocals, Pat Meagher on congas and hand percussion and frequent special guest Jr. Spezio on saxes.

Kevin Frisch, Jeff Bazarian and Herb Heins, started playing and songwriting during their halcyon 1970s Long Island middle school school days. Moving to Rochester in 1985, they started performing in the original alt rock band Herb Heins and The Turbines. Working with Bill Holmes and Feels So Good productions they gigged all over the area, from Red Creek, Idols, Party In The Park, Backstreets, Penny Arcade and Scorgies to the Orange Monkey, SUNY Brockport  and St. Boneventure. The album ‘Napalm Sunday’ was released in 1991. Herb moved on to found the metal band Chaos Matrix, then began working with Bob Bunce in Beyond Riddim, Dada Festivals and with Andre’ Foxxe’s Billy Makenzie Band. In 2015 he released a solo acoustic album titled ‘New For You’. Herb has more recently been sitting in with The English Project, members of Into The Now, Public Water Supply and released a vinyl mix of the Sol Vibration album ‘One Time’.

Hailing from the hinterlands of Victor NY, Lou and Jr Spezio began their career as founding members of the legendary Wells-Curtis Band. In the early 2000’s they helped form the band from the future known as The Almightys, with forays into funk with Andre’ Foxxe Williams from P-Funk, all which led to the now legendary Roc City Pro Jams with Chris English. The Spezios also helped found George Wesleys festival band Resistance. More recently you can see Lou blowing it up with the Buddahood while Jr can be found blowing it up with The Coupe Devilles and The Rhythm Dogs.

Starting out in Fredonia, audiophile Pat Meagher had performed with regional jam band Natty Bumpo before taking a hiatus from the scene. He was there from the start of acoustic Got Herb? while helping Herb record demos of the songs you’ll hear at our show. His enthusiasm for the music and help in producing the sound was essential in getting the tunes out of the house and into your ears!

Come hear some feel-good music, it’s medicine for mind, body and soul! Presented by Baker’s Dozen productions
