Anna Smyrk

With a voice described as ‘truly astonishing’ by Rolling Stone, Anna Smyrk is a powerful singer and song maker from Naarm (Melbourne, Australia). Her songs are anthemic indie bombshells, pairing vulnerable lyrics with explosive arrangements and undeniable hooks.

2024 is shaping up to be huge for Anna. She's an official showcasing artist at SXSW in Austin and at Folk Alliance International in Kansas City. This year will also see her set off on her first US tour and release her debut album.

The last few years have been massive for Anna. She recorded an EP in Nashville with award-winning producers Jake Finch and Collin Pastore (Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, boygenius). Released in 2023, the record is a smart, multi-layered offering filled with wry observations and muscular arrangements. Singles were added to MTV in Germany and to Apple Music’s New Indie playlist across multiple territories including the USA.

She’s toured non-stop, supporting some of Australia’s biggest artists (Birds of Tokyo, Tim Rogers) and performing at some of Australia’s finest festivals (Woodford Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival). She’s showcased at international events all over the world, including NXNE (Canada), Folk Alliance International (USA) and Live at Heart (Sweden).
Her 2021 EP, a collection of long-distance love songs, cemented her reputation as an name to watch. Singles from the EP were added to rotation on Double J and MTV and described as ‘soul-stirring’ by Triple J.
Described by Backseat Mafia UK as “a significant songwriter with an exceptional voice,” Anna Smyrk is a formidable artist on the rise.
