WAMMO
Former Asylum Street Spankers frontman, Wammo, puts on two shows in one. For his first set, Wammo plays some of his classic songs, hits from the Spankers plus cuts from his upcoming new album. He sings and plays harmonica, washboard, theremin, ukulele and a homemade contraption called a “springaling,” combining it all with tracks on his iPad to create a truly unique sound. Basically, he has reinvented the one-man-band. For his second set, he gathers catch phrases and suggestions from the audience and with the help of enlisted local musicians, he improvises a full set of tunes that vary from rock, to funk, to jazz, to low down blues. He peppers the entire show with hilarious anecdotes, storytelling and performance poetry. Anything can happen during one of his shows. Oh, and there may be nunchucks involved.
